Inventions and Technology

We had a great time exploring the invention of radio, thanks to Mr. Tinsley of Community Radio in Yemassee, SC at 87.7FM. He came with his mobile station and the kids we able to broadcast from the van to the classroom, great fun. We explored the communication loop, the the difference between digital and analog, FM and AM and the impact of wireless communication.
Homework: Both classes were given a crossword puzzle/question and answer sheet on Alexander Graham Bell. The 5-8th grade class also need to answer the following questions in paragraph form: What was one thing that I learned in class about radio technology? What was the impact of radio's wireless technology on communication? Then either in paragraph form or Venn diagram, compare and contrast either (FM/AM radio) or (analog/digital signals), your choice. All four items were covered in class, but further research may be done. See you next time! Visit Mr. Tinsley and his radio station at http://www.bhscradio.com/ also for more fun with radios visit http://www.wkmn.com/newsite/radio.html a site designed for kids.
